Tools Hub

The Tools Hub collects interactive player utilities for The Cave Diver: a controls cheatsheet, a progress checklist, and a sign strategy planner. These tools do not replace in-cave signs. They support the habits that make Ovsko’s physics-horror descent solvable across deaths.

Use them beside Controls, Guides, Walkthrough, Map, Mechanics, and Review. The Demo is live now; the full Steam release is planned for August 12, 2026. Building a desk workflow before launch week pays off in the expected three-to-five-hour campaign.

What lives in this hub

Controls Cheatsheet — featured quick reference for hand-aim crawling. The page includes an interactive cheatsheet section you can keep visible while the game runs.

Progress Checklist — milestone tracker for Demo skills, labeling discipline, journal habits, and route readiness. The interactive checklist section on that page can store completion state while you crawl.

Sign Planner — situation picker that recommends a marker approach. Use it with Sign Legend so planner output matches your personal language.

How to use the hub as a loop

Before a session: open the cheatsheet, skim your checklist, and pre-select a planner scenario for the first fork you expect to face. During a session: alt-tab only at safe pockets. After a death: update checklist milestones and planner decisions before relaunching. This loop pairs with Death and Bodies and Route Planning.

Why tools matter in a sign-persistence game

The cave remembers marks. Your brain remembers trauma unevenly. Tools catch the unevenness. A checklist prevents “I already know this” lies. A planner prevents panic glyphs. A cheatsheet prevents movement amnesia when horror spikes. Together they protect the durable map described in Signs.

Single monitor: put the cheatsheet page on a phone beside you; keep checklist for after deaths. Dual monitor: cheatsheet always visible; planner open for fork nights; checklist for audit nights. Controller players should still keep the cheatsheet nearby because panic rebinds memory.

Linking tools to content hubs

Movement problems: Controls, Guides, cheatsheet. Junction problems: Map, Branching Paths, planner. Campaign problems: Walkthrough, Progress Checklist. Systems confusion: Mechanics, Journals. Purchase/hardware: Review, System Requirements, Demo vs Full.

Demo-to-release tool plan

Demo week: cheatsheet heavy. Mid practice: planner + legend alignment. Pre-release: checklist audits. Launch: all three, but only at safe pauses. The Demo Walkthrough already suggests run types that map cleanly onto checklist milestones.

What these tools will not do

They will not auto-detect your in-game position. They will not place stone signs for you. They will not remove claustrophobia. They will not guarantee the flower. They will reduce repeated identical funerals if you actually update them.

Quick start

  1. Open Controls Cheatsheet and practice stopping on a hold in the Demo.
  2. Create your meanings in Sign Legend, then test them with Sign Planner.
  3. Track milestones in Progress Checklist after each body.
  4. Apply results in Early Cave Routes and Dead Ends.

Closing

The Tools hub is the desk half of a cave diver’s kit. The stone half is still your signs. Use both, and the next body inherits a plan instead of only a scream.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common The Cave Diver questions.

Which tool should I open first?

Start with the Controls Cheatsheet until pausing and re-gripping feel stable, then add the Sign Planner and Progress Checklist.

Do these tools change the game files?

No. They are wiki-side helpers. Only in-world signs persist inside The Cave Diver.

Can I use the tools during a run?

Yes, but only in safe pockets or after deaths. Mid-squeeze alt-tabs create avoidable tombs.

Are the tool pages interactive?

Yes. Each child page includes an interactive section—cheatsheet, checklist, or planner—described on that page.
